Owen v Singh

The judge stated: "The failings were clearly set out in Dr Brown's report and in fact were not undermined in any meaningful way by the Defendant ... Dr Brown gave straightforward evidence and I accept the evidence in his opinion".

Instructed by Nelsons for the Claimant.

Reading Borough Council v Arcadia Topman Topshop

HHJ Norton's sentencing remarks stated:

"Dr Brown said that not only had there had been two previous incidents in Manchester Trafford and Glasgow Silverburn in which injuries had resulted from barriers which had fallen, but there was now a pattern emerging, where it was clear that not only were there barriers that were unfixed, but barriers that were poorly fixed; and if barriers are not properly fixed, whether because they are freestanding or because the fixings are inadequate, then it is foreseeable that they will fall; and if they weigh 110 kilos, it is foreseeable that they will cause serious injury. I accept and agree with Dr Brown’s evidence.”

Instructed by Bevan Brittan LLP for the prosecution.

R v Lescost Transport Ltd

"It was good to work with you and I, too, hope that we can do so again. I will certainly be putting your name forward for appropriate cases". Counsel for the defendant.

Instructed by DWF.

R v Tarmac and a sub contractor

"It is fully recognised that your excellent report was unquestionably influential. The new report from [the prosecution expert] which largely concurs with you must have led counsel to advise the HSE that they had little chance of success ...   It remains for me to once again thank you for your excellent guidance and reporting". Instructing solicitor.

Instructed by Clyde & Co for the sub-contractor

R v A Transport company

"There has been a significant development on this matter which I am delighted to share.

Following the submission of [the defendant's] defence case statement and your expert report, the CPS reviewed their position and confirmed to us that they intend to offer no evidence against [the defendant] in respect of these proceedings".  Instructing solicitor.

Instructed by DWF.

R v A Parcel delivery company

"This afternoon I received confirmation that the HSE have withdrawn their Improvement Notice against our client and therefore the matter is closed. My thanks to you for your help on this matter". Instructing solicitor.

Instructed by Browne Jacobsen LLP.
